The Story

Apple TV has no built-in Stocks app. Neither does Fire TV or Google TV. For anyone who wants to glance at the market from the couch, the office, or the kitchen, the options have historically been a cable news channel or an expensive professional terminal.

MarketCast turns any TV into an ambient market wall: live stock and crypto prices, Bloomberg-style ticker walls, market news, and a daily AI-written morning brief, designed for the 10-foot viewing experience and driven entirely by a TV remote. It is not a trading app and gives no advice. It is the market, on in the background, the way sports fans leave a game on.

The app is built and maintained by one independent developer under ADAMAPPS LLC. It first launched on Amazon Fire TV in 2016, went dormant for several years, and was rebuilt from the ground up in 2026 across Apple TV, Fire TV, and Android/Google TV, with a native SwiftUI app on tvOS.

Coverage Angles

  • The missing app: Apple ships Stocks on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch — but not Apple TV. MarketCast fills that gap.
  • Ambient TV: alongside fireplace apps, aquariums, and art frames, a market wall is what an idle TV can be during trading hours.
  • The rebuild: a 2016 app that broke, went quiet for years, and was rebuilt solo in 2026 — a second-chance indie story.
  • Lean-back finance: no trading, no advice, no doomscrolling — watching the market as calm background information.
