How to Set Up MarketCast on Every Device: A Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Posted 3/1/26 @MarketCastApp

MarketCast is available on four major TV platforms, and the setup process is slightly different on each one. This guide walks you through installation, sign-in, and building your first portfolio on every supported device. Whether you have a Fire TV Stick, an Android TV, an Apple TV, or a Chromecast with Google TV, you will be watching your stocks on the big screen in just a few minutes.

Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

Amazon Fire TV devices are one of the most popular platforms for MarketCast. The setup process is straightforward and takes about five minutes.

Step 1: Find MarketCast in the Amazon Appstore. From your Fire TV home screen, navigate to the search icon (the magnifying glass) at the top of the screen. You can either type "MarketCast" using the on-screen keyboard or press the microphone button on your remote and say "MarketCast." The app should appear in the search results with the MarketCast logo.

Step 2: Install the app. Select the MarketCast app from the search results and click "Get" or "Download." The app is free, so there is no purchase required. The download is small and should only take a moment on a typical internet connection.

Step 3: Open MarketCast and sign in. Once installed, open the app. You will be prompted to sign in with your Amazon account. Since Fire TV devices are already linked to your Amazon account, this process is usually seamless. Your name and email will be used to create your MarketCast profile.

Step 4: Build your first portfolio. After signing in, you will see the main MarketCast interface. Navigate to the portfolio section and select "Add Stock." Use the search feature to find stocks by their ticker symbol (like AAPL for Apple or MSFT for Microsoft) or by company name. Add as many stocks as you like to your portfolio. Your selections are automatically saved to the cloud.

Tip for Fire TV users: If you have an Alexa-enabled remote, you can quickly launch MarketCast at any time by saying "Alexa, open MarketCast." You can also add MarketCast to your Fire TV's app row on the home screen for quick access by navigating to your apps, highlighting MarketCast, pressing the menu button on your remote, and selecting "Move to front."

Android TV (Sony Bravia, TCL, Mi Box, Nvidia Shield)

Android TV is the platform where MarketCast first launched, and it remains one of the best experiences. The app is available through the Google Play Store on all Android TV devices.

Step 1: Open the Google Play Store. From your Android TV home screen, scroll down to the "Apps" row and find the Google Play Store. If you do not see it in the row, you can find it in your full apps list.

Step 2: Search for MarketCast. In the Play Store, select the search icon and type "MarketCast." You can also use voice search by clicking the microphone icon and saying the app name. Select MarketCast from the search results.

Step 3: Install and open. Click "Install" to download the app for free. Once installed, you can open it directly from the Play Store or find it in your apps list on the home screen.

Step 4: Sign in with Google. MarketCast on Android TV uses Google Sign-In. Since your Android TV is already connected to your Google account, the sign-in process is usually automatic or requires just a single confirmation. Once signed in, your profile is created and you can start building portfolios.

Step 5: Create your portfolio. Navigate to the portfolio section and start adding stocks. The interface is designed for TV remotes, so you can use the directional pad to navigate and the select button to confirm. Search for stocks by ticker symbol or name, and they will be added to your portfolio instantly.

Tip for Android TV users: If you are experiencing slow performance on older Sony Bravia TVs, check out our guide to improving Sony Android TV performance. A few simple tweaks can significantly improve the app experience on lower-powered hardware.

Apple TV

MarketCast on Apple TV takes advantage of the powerful tvOS platform to deliver a smooth, responsive experience. Here is how to get set up.

Step 1: Open the App Store. From the Apple TV home screen, find and open the App Store. It should be on your home screen by default.

Step 2: Search for MarketCast. Navigate to the Search tab at the top of the App Store. Type "MarketCast" or use Siri by holding the microphone button on your Siri Remote and saying "Search for MarketCast." Select the app from the results.

Step 3: Download and install. Click "Get" to download MarketCast for free. If prompted, confirm the download with your Apple ID. The app will install automatically.

Step 4: Open and sign in. Launch MarketCast from your home screen. On Apple TV, you will sign in with your Google account. The app will display a sign-in code on your TV screen. Open a web browser on your phone or computer, go to the URL shown on screen, and enter the code. This links your Google account to MarketCast on your Apple TV.

Step 5: Set up your portfolio. Once signed in, start adding stocks to your portfolio. If you have previously used MarketCast on another device with the same Google account, your existing portfolios will sync automatically. This means you can build your portfolio on one device and view it on all of your others.

Tip for Apple TV users: The Siri Remote's touchpad makes scrolling through long stock lists fast and fluid. Swipe up and down to scroll through your portfolio, and swipe left and right to switch between different views.

Chromecast with Google TV

The Chromecast with Google TV runs the same Android TV-based platform as Sony and TCL televisions, so the setup process is very similar to the Android TV instructions above.

Step 1: Open the Google Play Store. From the Google TV home screen, scroll to the "Apps" tab at the top of the screen. Select "Search for apps and games."

Step 2: Search and install. Type "MarketCast" or use the Google Assistant by pressing the Assistant button on your Chromecast remote and saying "Install MarketCast." Download the app for free.

Step 3: Sign in and create your portfolio. Open MarketCast and sign in with your Google account. Since Chromecast with Google TV is linked to your Google account during initial setup, the sign-in process is typically quick. Build your portfolio the same way as on Android TV.

Tip for Chromecast users: You can ask the Google Assistant to open MarketCast hands-free by saying "Hey Google, open MarketCast" if your Chromecast remote supports always-listening mode, or by pressing the Assistant button and speaking the command.

Syncing Your Portfolio Across Devices

One of the best features of MarketCast is cloud portfolio sync. When you build a portfolio on one device, it is automatically available on every other device where you sign in with the same account. This means you can set up your portfolios on a Fire TV in your living room and see the same watchlists on an Apple TV in your office or an Android TV in your bedroom.

The sync happens through your sign-in account (Google or Amazon, depending on platform). As long as you use the same account across devices, your data follows you. Changes sync in real time, so if you add a stock on one device, it appears on your other devices within moments.

Building an Effective Portfolio View

Once you have MarketCast installed, here are some suggestions for organizing your portfolios for the best TV viewing experience:

Create multiple portfolios: Instead of dumping all your stocks into one giant list, organize them into themed portfolios. You might have a "My Holdings" portfolio for stocks you actually own, a "Watchlist" for stocks you are considering, and a "Market Indexes" portfolio with the S&P 500, Dow, and Nasdaq for a quick market overview.

Put your most important stocks first: The stocks at the top of your portfolio are the ones you will see most often at a glance. Put your largest holdings or most closely watched positions at the top.

Add market indexes: Even if you do not invest directly in indexes, adding SPY (S&P 500 ETF), DIA (Dow Jones ETF), and QQQ (Nasdaq 100 ETF) to a portfolio gives you an instant market health check.

Use MarketCast during market hours: MarketCast displays live pricing during trading hours (9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern, Monday through Friday). Outside of market hours, you will see the closing prices from the most recent trading day. Having MarketCast running on your TV during the trading day gives you a passive way to stay aware of market movements without actively staring at your phone.
