How to Watch the Stock Market on Your TV

Home / Guides / How to Watch the Stock Market on Your TV

Most people who want the market on a TV end up with a browser tab on a laptop or a business news channel they half-watch. There is a better way: an app built for the big screen that shows your own stocks, not just whatever the channel is talking about.

Three ways to put the market on a TV

  • A business news channel. Free with cable or a streaming bundle, and good for commentary. It shows what the producers chose, not your portfolio, and prices scroll past on someone else's schedule.
  • Casting a browser or phone. Works with anything, but it ties up a device, the screen turns off, and a website is not built to be read from across a room.
  • A stock app made for TVs. Prices, charts and news laid out for a remote and a sofa, with your own lists, running on its own all day.

Set up MarketCast on your TV

MarketCast, the stock market app for TV, runs on Fire TV, Google TV and Android TV, and Apple TV. It is free to download.

  1. Open your TV's app store: Amazon Appstore on Fire TV, Google Play on Google TV and Android TV, or the App Store on Apple TV.
  2. Search for MarketCast and install it.
  3. Open the app. The Home screen shows the market, and the Stream plays prices, charts and headlines on its own.
  4. Scan the QR code on the TV with your phone to add your stocks. It is much faster than typing tickers with a remote.

What you will see

The free app gives you the market stream, business news, price charts, market movers, a portfolio and a watch list, and forex on the ticker tape. It is supported by commercials and sponsors. Premium removes the commercials and adds real-time stock prices, crypto around the clock, unlimited custom lists, a daily brief on your stocks and more. You can see what is in each on the plans page.
